Getting the board ready
Eleven trebles, three darts at each, and a count at the end that shows which of them you can rely on. Tap each dart as it lands. The row of numbers fills in as you go, so by the end you can see which trebles came and which never did. Tap any visit in the list to correct it.
Two ways to count it
Both come from the same darts, so the scorer works out both every time and lets you choose which one leads.
| Where it landed | Trebles | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Treble of the number | 1 | 3 |
| Double of the number | 0 | 2 |
| Single of the number | 0 | 1 |
| Any other number, either bull, a miss | 0 | 0 |
The published points version gives 1 for a single and 3 for a treble and does not say what a double scores. The 2 here is this site's ruling.
What the numbers say
Most treble practice happens on the 20. This drill spreads it evenly, and the lower trebles are the ones that set up a finish: treble 17 leaves 50 from 101, treble 14 leaves 40 from 82. If those land far less often than the 18, 19 and 20, that gap is costing you darts at the end of legs.
Sign in and your sessions build up per number. Once every treble has thirty darts behind it, the Practice area says which ones lag and whether your 19 is as good as your 20, which matters on a night when the 20 bed is full.
Questions
- What are the rules of Priestley's Trebles?
- Throw three darts at treble 10, then three at treble 11, and so on up to treble 20. You move to the next number after three darts whether you hit or not. Every treble of the number you are on counts one. Eleven numbers at three darts each is 33 darts, so the best possible score is 33.
- How many darts is Priestley's Trebles?
- Thirty-three. From 10 to 20 is eleven numbers, not ten, and each gets three darts.
- What is the points version of Priestley's Trebles?
- Instead of counting trebles, you score 3 for a treble of the number, 2 for a double and 1 for a single, out of 99. The published version does not say what a double is worth; this scorer counts it as 2. Both figures are worked out for every session, and the option only decides which one leads.
- Does a treble of the wrong number count in Priestley's Trebles?
- No. A treble 5 while you are on treble 20 is nothing, even though the 5 sits next to the 20. Only the number you are on counts.
